The Parents
Dad was king of his castle, but Mom didn’t take a backseat to nobody.
Dad‘s ground-rule was clear from the beginning “whatever your mother says… do” I remember what he once said to me "if your mother says to stand on your head naked in the middle of the street …when I get home from work I expect to see you naked on your head and you damn well be in the middle of the street." We will find out why later, but don’t question anything your mother says.

Johnson & Johnson
Growing up we mostly affiliated with our mother side of the family not because of any animosity towards our father side it’s just who is present who we knew. Our oldest sibling Jennifer was much more knowledgeable as to family connections and our place on the family tree. Naturally with me being the youngest sibling things like details did not concern me, but I was a child. I would later learn that there was “fathers family” around. Not only around, but prominent. In 1977 a Simple knock on the 269 front door that was followed by an introduction of Rachelle Johnson to Jayson (me).Connecting with another “Johnson” was huge to Jayson. While having cousins was nothing new, this was Jaydon’s first time meeting cousins who shared the last name of Johnson. Through Rachelle, 269 connected with her siblings Rick, Rob and Roselyn who will lived in the mid west ( KC ).

"It takes a village to raise a child" African Proverb. Well, tell me....how about six? Having a large family ( The Johnson's just might have been the originator of the term "supersize") The Johnson family home was similar to an orchestra pre-concert. To an outsider listening to the mishmash of sections warming up, it would drive them batty, then the closer it would get to concert time, the hum became less...eventually the conductor would take their place and with the quick taps of their baton/wand all sections, eyes up and like a well-oiled machine the one-time hodgepodge of fractured sound played music so sweet, it was often thought to come from angels.
Each Johnson child had a network of Godparents, coaches, teachers who at times acted as Eddie and Bobbies proxy in keeping a watchful eye, safe harbor, and yes, at times relief while keeping the values in line with the family ideals.

Work was the cornerstone to the Johnson home. If you wanted something bad enough, then if you out work your competition, obstacles and adversities you can do anything. That was the mind set on “the truck”, athletic fields, academic and work force. No whining, no excuses…get it done.
